Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash gave this performance on the first episode of the Johnny Cash Show, it first aired June 7, 1969. The show was filmed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.


Here is the studio version of Girl from the North Country featuring BD and JC. This was the first track on Bob Dylan's April 1969 released album, Nashville Skyline.



Dylan wrote this song earlier in the decade, and it first appeared on his second album, the May 1963 released The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan with him performing the song solo.

I've been looking around for a live version of "Teeth in the Grass," or a cover version, or any alternate version. The album version is all I've been able to find, if you know of a cover of "Teeth in the Grass" or a live version by Iron & Wine, let me know. Perhaps the unique instrumentation in the song has deterred would be cover version creators.

There aren't a whole lot of live Iron & Wine performance videos online, in part I would guess due to Sam Beam and company's relatively sparse performance schedule in comparison to other performing musicians.

The Tennessee Theatre is a large building in Knoxville, Tennessee built in 1928 that originally served as movie theater, in fact referred to as a "movie palace" because of it's large size and elaborate decoration.

Old Crow Medicine Show Performing "Wagon Wheel" to a Packed House

"Wagon Wheel" is the most well known song by Old Crow Medicine Show, with many calling it the "signature tune" of the band. While thought by some as an Old Crow original, band member Ketch Secor has told the story of how "Wagon Wheel" was inspired by an obscure Bob Dylan recording.

Secor, in fact describes it as him finishing a Bob Dylan song. The initial lyrics and idea for "Wagon Wheel" came from a Bob Dylan outtake from the soundtrack to the film "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" that Secor was listening to, he then used what he heard Dylan sing on the recording and fashioned "Wagon Wheel" from the inspiration and lyrics he received from Bob Dylan.


"Wagon Wheel" by Old Crow Medicine Show appeared as the 11th and final track on the bands self-titled full-length debut album, "Old Crow Medicine Show," often abbreviated as "O.C.M.S." Since the songs release on "O.C.M.S." many other bands have covered "Wagon Wheel."

Led Zeppelin as you've never seen them before, that's right, as Lego people / figures.

This is pretty neat, I assume they are created by Dunechaser on Flickr. If the shirts are painted by him, it's quite impressive as it is quite detailed work on a quite small surface. The rock and roll hair is another question. I wonder where that came from?

The performance was recorded at one of their string of 5 shows in May 1975, at Earls Court Arena in London.

These shows, today known as Earls Court 1975 were massively popular, selling 85,000 tickets.

The live music video of Led Zeppelin doing "Tangerine" at Earls Court Arena, May 1975. The song came right in the middle of the set list all but the last night of the concert series when it was one song before the mid-point because of the addition of two additional encore songs, "Heartbreaker" and "Communication Breakdown".



"Tangerine" was one of two songs written and composed entirely by Jimmy Page that was performed at the Earls Court Shows. The other was "Dazed and Confused," a song originally written by Jake Holmes. "Dazed and Confused" was expanded and reworked by Jimmy Page and is the fourth track on Led Zeppelin's debut album.

Running for a length of 36 minutes and 28 seconds and featuring 11 songs "Is This It" received much praise and adulation. The album was as one of the best albums in years. It had a fresh sound, but at the same time, one that was clearly the product of and influenced by rock music from the past.

"Is This It" played an important role shifting the popular music sound in the early 2000s to a guitar rock sound that drew from the past while incorporating modern style as well.

The song is the second track on the band's third album, the self-titled - Sublime.

Comparisons

Some people have pointed out that the tune to "What I Got" is very similar to the tune of the Beatles song "Lady Madonna," this is not known to be intentional on the part of Sublime, the songs it seems just have similar melodies.

The 2005 movie Fun with Dick and Jane starring Jim Carrey, Téa Leoni, and Alec Baldwin features the song "What I Got." Judd Apatow was a co-writer of Fun with Dick & Jane, a movie he is not often associated with, he has of course been associated with some funny movies such as Knocked Up, and Superbad.

What I Got was also heard in the 1997 Argentine film, Cenizas del paraíso.
