"Sweet Jane" Lyrics

Standing on the corner,
Suitcase in my hand
Jack is in his corset, and Jane is her vest,
And me I'm in a rock'n'roll band Hah!
Ridin' in a Stutz Bear Cat, Jim
You know, those were different times!
Oh, all the poets they studied rules of verse
And those ladies, they rolled their eyes

Sweet Jane! Whoa! Sweet Jane, oh-oh-a! Sweet Jane!

I'll tell you something
Jack, he is a banker
And Jane, she is a clerk
Both of them save their monies, ha
And when, when they come home from work
Oh, Sittin' down by the fire, oh!
The radio does play
The classical music there, Jim
"The March of the Wooden Soldiers"
All you protest kids
You can hear Jack say, get ready, ah

Sweet Jane! Come on baby! Sweet Jane! Oh-oh-a! Sweet Jane!

Some people, they like to go out dancing
And other peoples, they have to work, Just watch me now!
And there's even some evil mothers
Well they're gonna tell you that everything is just dirt
Y'know that, women, never really faint
And that villains always blink their eyes, woo!
And that, y'know, children are the only ones who blush!
And that, life is just to die!
And, everyone who ever had a heart
They wouldn't turn around and break it
And anyone who ever played a part
Oh wouldn't turn around and hate it!

Sweet Jane! Whoa-oh-oh! Sweet Jane! Sweet Jane!

Heavenly wine and roses
Seems to whisper to her when he smiles
Heavenly wine and roses
Seems to whisper to her when she smiles
La lala lala la, la lala lala la
Sweet Jane
Sweet Jane
Sweet Jane

Big River Lyrics

Now, I taught a weeping willow how to cry,

and I showed the clouds how to cover up a clear blue sky.

And the tears that I cried for that woman

are gonna flood you, Big River.

And I'm gonna sit right here until I die.

I met her accidentally in St. Paul, Minnesota,

and it tore me up every time I heard her drawl, southern drawl.

Then I heard my dream went back downstream, cavorting in Davenport.

And I followed you, Big River, when you called.

Then you took me to St. Louis later on, down the river.

A freighter said she's been here, but she's gone, boy, she's gone.

I found her trail in Memphis, but she just walked up the bluff.

She raised a few eyebrows and then she went on down alone.

Now, won't you batter down Baton Rouge? River Queen, roll it on.

Take that woman on down to New Orleans, New Orleans.

Go on, I've had enough; dump my blues down in the gulf.

She loves you, Big River, more then me.

Now, I taught a weeping willow how to cry,

and I showed the clouds how to cover up a clear blue sky.

And the tears that I cried for that woman

are gonna flood you, Big River.

And I'm gonna sit right here until I die.

"Big River" Video Performances

Below you can watch and listen to Johnny Cash Performing "Big River."

One from the 1960s and one from the 1990s.

Here's Johnny on the Grand Ole Opry in 1962.

"A tour of the whole South ... wonderful!"

Here is Johnny performing Big River at a festival in of all places, Denmark. Which seems a bit of a curious juxtaposition
but I'm sure Danes like music of all types as just as much as any other country.

"Three Little Birds" Music Video - Bob Marley & the Wailers

This is my message to you! oo! oo!

Music video for the original Bob Marley & The Wailers song "Three Little Birds."

The video features some pretty cool what I assume to be late 1970s animation over top of live action. Or it could be 1980s animation as as far as I know music videos weren't very prevalent until MTV in the 80s, but mayb down in Jamaica they knew what was up and were ahead of the curve.

The original release date of "Three Little Birds" was June 3, 1977 as the fourth track on the b-side of the album Exodus
by Bob Marley & the Wailers.
