The lyrics are based on Jim Morrison's poetry. Two poems in particular, "Abortion Stories" & "Dawn's Highway."

Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash gave this performance on the first episode of the Johnny Cash Show, it first aired June 7, 1969. The show was filmed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.


Here is the studio version of Girl from the North Country featuring BD and JC. This was the first track on Bob Dylan's April 1969 released album, Nashville Skyline.



Dylan wrote this song earlier in the decade, and it first appeared on his second album, the May 1963 released The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan with him performing the song solo.

Paul's Boutique, MCA, Ad-Rock, & Mike D's second album released on July 25, 1989.

It's good, it's great, many people like it.

Miles Davis was a fan.
I too was a bit a surprised to hear that about Davis not generally thinking about an overlap between these two artists, but Davis died in September 1991, a little more than two years after the release of Paul's Boutique. Interesting to see that bit of props from one innovator to some others.

The video features some pretty cool what I assume to be late 1970s animation over top of live action. Or it could be 1980s animation as as far as I know music videos weren't very prevalent until MTV in the 80s, but mayb down in Jamaica they knew what was up and were ahead of the curve.
