Perhaps the unique instrumentation in the song has deterred would be cover version creators.

There aren't a whole lot of live Iron & Wine performance videos online, in part I would guess due to Sam Beam and company's relatively sparse performance schedule in comparison to other performing musicians.

Teeth in the Grass

by Iron & Wine

This is a really cool song with a cool sounding guitar, slide guitar and driving rhythm.

"Teeth in the Grass" the fifth track from the 2004 album "Our Endless Numbered Days," Same Beam's first release as Iron & Wine with help, i.e. additional musicians.

Wagon Wheel Performed Live by Old Crow Medicine Show

Old Crow Medicine Show performing their song "Wagon Wheel" live in front of a clearly enthusiastic audience. While thought by some as an Old Crow original, band member Ketch Secor has told the story of how "Wagon Wheel" was inspired by an obscure Bob Dylan recording.

Secor, in fact describes it as him finishing a Bob Dylan song. The initial lyrics and idea for "Wagon Wheel" came from a Bob Dylan outtake from the soundtrack to the film "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" that Secor was listening to, he then used what he heard Dylan sing on the recording and fashioned "Wagon Wheel" from the inspiration and lyrics he received from Bob Dylan.

"Wagon Wheel" by Old Crow Medicine Show appeared as the 11th and final track on the bands self-titled full-length debut album, "Old Crow Medicine Show," often abbreviated as "O.C.M.S." Since the songs release on "O.C.M.S." many other bands have covered "Wagon Wheel."

Wagon Wheel Music Video by Old Crow Medicine Show

Wagon Wheel Lyrics

Wagon Wheel
By - Old Crow Medicine Show

Headed down south to the land of the pines
And I'm thumbin' my way into North Caroline
Starin' up the road
Pray to God I see headlights

I made it down the coast in seventeen hours
Pickin' me a bouquet of dogwood flowers
And I'm a-hopin' for Raleigh
I can see my baby tonight

So rock me, mama, like a wagon wheel
Rock me, mama, any way you feel
Hey, mama rock me
Rock me, mama, like the wind and the rain
Rock me, mama, like a south-bound train
Hey, mama rock me

Runnin' from the cold up in New England
I was born to be a fiddler in an old-time string band
My baby plays the guitar
I pick a banjo now

Oh, the North country winters keep a-gettin' me now
Lost my money playin' poker so I had to up and leave
But I ain't a-turnin' back
To livin' that old life no more

So rock me, mama, like a wagon wheel
Rock me, mama, any way you feel
Hey, mama rock me
Rock me, mama, like the wind and the rain
Rock me, mama, like a south-bound train
Hey, mama rock me

Walkin' to the south out of Roanoke
I caught a trucker out of Philly
Had a nice long toke
But he's a-headed west from the Cumberland Gap
To Johnson City, Tennessee

And I got to get a move on before the sun
I hear my baby callin' my name
And I know that she's the only one
And if I die in Raleigh
At least I will die free

So rock me, mama, like a wagon wheel
Rock me, mama, any way you feel
Hey, mama rock me
Rock me, mama, like the wind and the rain
Rock me, mama, like a south-bound train
Hey, mama rock me

The Old Crow band credits on O.C.M.S. were -

Critter Fuqua - Banjo Guitar, Vocals, Bottleneck Guitar

Ketcham Secor - Banjo, Fiddle, Harmonica, Vocals

Kevin Hayes - Guit-jo

Morgan Jahnig - Bass (Upright)

Willie Watson - Banjo, Guitar, Vocals

Current Old Crow band members include those above, plus - Gill Landry & This difference in the tone of his voice can be attributed to the digital manipulation and enhancement techniques employed by The Lonely Island in their music. Things like Autotune when used beyond a certain threshold tend to noticeably change the sound of a voice.

Boombox Video

Here is a neat fan made video for the song Boombox using animation from the video game World of Warcraft.

It is nicely made, try to follow along with how the lyrics are depicted with the animation, and some of the lines are sung by the characters in the video.

Boombox Mp3

Below you can listen to an Mp3 audio track of the song.

Boombox Lyrics

Boombox

by The Lonely Island

Imagine in your mind a posh country club,
The stuffy old money, where the poor get snubbed,
The spread is bland: sauerkraut and boiled goose
There's no way these people will ever cut loose
But then I walk in the room, hold my boom box high,
And what happened next will blow your mind...

Everything got out of control,
The music was so entrancing,
Everyone got out on the floor,
It was a bunch of old, white people dancing.

Now picture, if you will, a bunch of businessmen,
Stuffed in the boardroom like pigs in a pen.
The ties around their necks are like a hangman's noose,
In the middle of the table there's a boiled goose.
The old people smell makes you wanna puke in the sink,
These dudes'll never dance, yeah, that's what you think!
I stride in the room, all young and hip,
Hold up my boom box, and say "Listen to this:"

Then everyone started to move,
People rejoiced, instead of financing.
Their preconceived notions were shattered,
By the super-old white people dancing.

The Big Apple, where people never dance,
Spirits go down while profits expand.
The cops saw the dealers, who's got the juice?
The street vendors peddling their boiled goose.
So many types of people, they'll never get along,
'Til I bust out my boom box and play this song:

The music washed away all their hate,
And society started advancing,
Every demographic was represented,
It was a Rainbow Coalition of dancing.

Everyone was wearing fingerless gloves,
I saw a Spanish guy doing the Bartman.

Transport now to an old folks' home,
Where the elderly are tossed on their brittle bones.
The orderlies are stealing - there's no excuse!
Every day for lunch they eat boiled goose.
So I grab my boom box and hit the turbo bass,
And what happened next was a total disgrace.

Everybody started having sex!
The music was way too powerful!
A bunch of old people fucking like rabbits!
It was disgusting, to say the least.

A boom box can change the world,
But you gotta know your limits with a boom box.
And this was a cautionary tale,
A BOOM BOX IS NOT A TOY!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://b0z.blogspot.com/2009/05/boombox-by-lonely-island-lyrics-video.html' title='Boombox by The Lonely Island -
